COUNCIL WATER TANK REPLACEMENT
In this case study, our Engineers were tasked with the replacement of a water tank on behalf of a local council located in the north of England. Due to several reported leaks and a lack of previous maintenance, a full replacement was deemed as the most appropriate, long-term solution.
STAGE 1
Mains Bypass
In order to maintain supply whilst the water tank replacement would take place, our team opened the project by installing a temporary bypass with 2 lever valves for isolation. After this was executed, the Engineers could begin draining and dismantling the previous water storage structure.
STAGE 2
Tank Build Process
The image here showcases the previous leaking water tank, constructed from plastic. To offer a better solution, we put forward to our client that the new tank should be made from glass-reinforced plastic as this is a more robust alternative.
STAGE 3
Newly Installed Water Tank
After a timely turnaround, our Engineers completed the construction of a new sectional GRP cold water storage tank measuring 1m x 1.5m x 1m. The new tank included a raised chamber, top access hatch, equilibrium float valve and screened connections. In addition, we installed guard rails around the base of floor to allow safer access.
STAGE 4
The Story After
Following the building of the new water storage tank, we modified and insulated all pipe connections to suit the new system. After this, our team refilled the tank, checked for any potential leaks and executed a specialist disinfection to ensure the water would be safe for potable use.
