HOSPITAL WATER TANK REPLACEMENT
In this particular case study, we were summoned to carry out the replacement of steel cold water storage tanks at a hospital located near Derbyshire. Upon isolating and draining both tanks, a careful examination revealed extensive corrosion on all inner surfaces. Addressing this issue was crucial as leaving it unresolved could have potentially exposed vulnerable users to significant health and safety risks associated with the water supply.
STAGE 1
Old Water Tank Replacement
Considering the previous state of the tanks, it was concluded that opting for two new sectional GRP split compartment CWSTs would offer an appropriate and durable long-term remedy. As a result, the existing tanks were dismantled and taken away from the site to begin the replacement process. In order to ensure a robust foundation for the newly installed water tanks, new bases were constructed.
STAGE 2
Tank Build Process
Upon removing and disposing of the old water tanks, our Engineers were able to begin constructing the new structures. Both new water tanks would feature a new split compartment measuring 4m x 2m x 1m (each compartment 4m x 1m x 1m) and were manufactured from glass-reinforced plastic, offering a more long term solution.

Newly Installed Water Tank
After a timely turnaround, our Engineers had finished the tank building process. Each new tank included new raised chambers, an external ladder, an equilibrium float valves and screened connections, including new inlet and outlet valves.

The Story After
For both of the newly installed water tanks, we modified all pipework to suit the new system. Following this, our team returned to site to clean and disinfect both cold water storage tanks and commission into them service.
